When it happens, it happens in a blur: carried by the North wind in a burst of snow and starlight, paws skipping across the water's surface, Suicune, out of left field and into her field of view. In a playful mood, it noses a dewgong into the water, scatters a waddle of piplups, and dances circles around a lone aurorus; when it comes upon the NEO a swish of its ribbon tails sends powdery crystal snow all over the barrier, like prickles of moonlight; and then it's gone again, a blue and white blur.

She gapes, and misses every shot.
