Requested characters: Hinoto, Kanoe

Listen. What is their deal!!

I didn't pay that much attention to them as a teen but on my latest reread I found their little slice of plot really compelling. The claustrophobia of Hinoto's whole situation, the powerlessness and the railing against fate that ultimately leads them both to just kinda casually set the ball rolling for the end of the world... they play such a huge part in getting things started, and I just want to shake them until more plot comes out. What was their childhood like? When did Hinoto's evil side first appear, and how much of it is just... her, not wanting to die? How did Kanoe learn to ride along her sister's dreams, and how did she ever come the conclusion that causing the apocalypse was the best thing she could do for her? Is there a version of events somewhere where Kanoe was the one who guided the Dragons of Heavens while Hinoto assembled the Dragons of Earth?

 

Dragonlance

Requested characters: Dalamar, Laurana, Tanis

Elves with complicated feelings about their homeland is the common thread here! Dalamar & Tanis were fascinating to me even as a teen as an as-genuine-as-they-can-make-it friendship grounded in a mutual understanding of what makes the other tick and a willingness to roll with the occasional betrayal; Dalamar & Laurana never interact in canon, but they have a surprising amount in common in spite of their obvious differences – both of them rejected for refusing to stick to their assigned roles in elven society, both of them willing to prioritize diplomacy and work with theoretical enemies, etc.; I think they'd be good foils for each other, and that makes them interesting to me.

I'd be happy to read a fic set at any point in this very expansive canon, but for the sake of narrowing it down I'm especially partial to the aftermath of Legends, or that post “Sacrifice” road trip to Silvanesti that is alluded to but never shown. I also love the War of Souls trilogy if you feel like AU-ing a way for them to meet there, and for what it’s worth I would consider a fic where Tanis is only present via flashback, or where Dalamar & Laurana bond over his absence, completely fair game for this one.

 

Knight & Rogue

Requested characters: Michael, Fisk

I read this series for the first time earlier this year and immediately got hit by 15 years’ worth of early noughties nostalgia xD I just really enjoy the way the two of them balance each other and seem to understand what makes the other tick while still failing to get each other in some pretty major ways. If you feel like writing something plotty, casefic would be amazing! The mysteries (and burglaries, and occasional lessons in con artistry) were always my favourite part. More generally though, I’d just love to see the two of them working together on anything big or small. I’m also really fond of Fisk and wouldn’t mind seeing him hurt/comforted for a change.

 

Grandia

Requested character: Sue

I went back and forth a long time over which set of characters to request, but ended up going with Sue alone just so I could prompt the following: how the heck did she make it all the way to Zil Padon on her own?? Did the teleportation orb recharge? Did she stow away on a military airship? Did the Spirits whisk her away to cheer Justin up in his time of need? I just feel like there’s a lot of room here for all sorts of shenanigans - this is the same canon that catapults Justin & Feena into a distant volcano who knows what new and exciting ways to travel are out there. Or maybe she and Puffy could go on a post-canon adventure of their own?

Other than that, I love her friendship with Justin for being both unusual and believable - the push-and-pull of Justin relying on Sue while still being aware of her younger age / Sue wanting to be The Responsible One while still being very much a little kid (and a bit of a brat at that) makes for a very good dynamic I’d love to see more of! Maybe something from the early days of their friendship, or a moment later on where Feena and/or Gadwin are busy and it’s just the two of them for once?
